Clothing that holds a story.
Some of you may have known my work since 2008, when I was creating custom clothing through my first website. Since then, Tolumi has grown with me through bespoke commissions, collections, fashion shows, creative collaborations and years of working closely with people to create clothing for moments that matter. I have designed for private clients and public figures, developed garments from first idea to final fitting, and built a practice grounded in craft, pattern cutting and a deeply personal approach to making.
Tolumi, The Atelier is the home of that experience today. My work now centres bridal and occasionwear, specialist bridal and special-occasion alterations, bespoke commissions, and selected creative fashion projects. I also work with designers and creative brands on design development, pattern making and creative direction, bringing both technical knowledge and long industry experience to the process.
If you have been with me since the earlier days of the brand, welcome back. If you are discovering my work for the first time, welcome. The services below reflect how the Atelier has evolved, while keeping the part that has always mattered most to me: creating thoughtful work around the person, the purpose and the story behind it.

Made Around Your Story
I work with a limited number of bridal and occasionwear commissions at a time. Each enquiry is considered carefully in relation to my availability, the timing of your occasion, the technical requirements of the garment and whether I feel my design approach is the right fit for what you want to create.
The more you can share about the person, the occasion, your ideas, timing and visual references, the easier it is for me to understand the story behind the piece and whether I am the right designer for your commission.
From First Enquiry to Finished Garment
Every commission begins with your story, but submitting an enquiry does not confirm a project or appointment. I take on a limited number of commissions and review each one personally before deciding whether the brief, timing and creative direction are right for us to explore together.
If the project feels like a good fit, the process moves from a short introductory conversation into a paid design consultation, followed by proposal, development, fittings and the finished garment.
- 01Share Your Story
Complete the enquiry form with the garment, occasion, ideas, preferred dates and any reference links you would like me to see. An enquiry does not confirm a commission or appointment.
- 02Review & Selection
I review every enquiry personally and usually respond within five days. Whether or not I am able to take the project forward, you will hear back from me.
- 03A Conversation Before We Commit
If I would like to explore the commission further, my reply will include a calendar link for you to book a short 15-minute call. This gives us a chance to meet, clarify the brief and decide whether we both want to move forward. I will also share an initial indication of the likely commission price range so you have a realistic sense of the investment before booking a full consultation.
- 04Paid Design Consultation
If we both decide to continue, I will invite you to book a one-hour design consultation at £200. The consultation fee is non-refundable, but if you proceed with the commission afterwards, the £200 is credited towards the total cost of your garment. Consultations can take place online or in person at my studio in Aylesham, Canterbury.
- 05Proposal, Quote & Timeline
During the one-hour consultation we explore the silhouette, design direction, fabrics, details, practical requirements and timing in depth. Afterwards I confirm the proposed direction, final quotation and project timeline before you decide whether to proceed.
- 06Design Development & Fittings
Once the commission is confirmed, design development and making take place in stages. Bespoke work usually includes around three fittings: a toile fitting, a second fitting as the garment develops, and a final fitting before completion.
- 07Your Finished Garment
After the final fitting and finishing, your garment is completed and prepared for handover — the end of a collaborative process built around you, the occasion and the story behind the piece.

Bridal & Special Occasion Alterations
I offer specialist alterations for bridal and special-occasion garments only. I do not provide general clothing alterations, and I take on a limited number of alteration projects at any one time.
Alteration services begin from £200. The final quotation depends on the garment, its construction and the work required, and will be confirmed after an initial assessment. An initial conversation or assessment can begin online or in person, but all physical fittings take place at my studio in Aylesham, Canterbury.

Pattern Development & Creative Services
Alongside my client-facing Atelier work, I support designers and creative brands with design development, pattern making, technical development and selected creative-direction projects. This work draws on years of fashion-industry experience, pattern-cutting knowledge and practical understanding of taking an idea from concept towards a resolved garment.
If you are developing a collection, refining a design or need experienced technical input, you can explore this service in more detail through my Work With Me page.
