Pattern features:

Choosing your size: choose your size by your bust measurement. The gown has a generous, relaxed fit with plenty of room to wear over pyjamas or clothes. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size.

Size guide:

• Small: to fit bust 32 in (81 cm), finished chest 49 in (124 cm)
• Medium: to fit bust 36 in (91 cm), finished chest 53 in (135 cm)
• Large: to fit bust 40 in (102 cm), finished chest 57 in (145 cm)
• X-Large: to fit bust 44 in (112 cm), finished chest 63 in (160 cm)

Length options:

• Petite: approximately 52–55 in (132–140 cm), depending on size
• Normal: approximately 54–57 in (137–145 cm), depending on size
• Long: approximately 56–59 in (142–150 cm), depending on size

The finished length is measured from the shoulder seam at the neck down to the hem. The pattern can also be shortened to knee or midi length by shortening the front, back and neckband by the same amount.

Sleeves: the sleeves are cut long and wide so they can be folded back for a cuff effect. The finished sleeve measures approximately 24 in (61 cm) from the shoulder seam to the hem before folding.

Recommended fabrics: choose a soft, cosy fabric that is warm but still drapes softly. Polar fleece, cotton or cotton-blend flannel, towelling, waffle fabric, brushed cotton and soft sweatshirt fleece all work well. Lighter fabrics such as brushed cotton are suitable for a warmer-weather gown.

Fabric requirements: for 150 cm (60 in) wide fabric, for the Long length:

• Small and Medium: 4 m / 4 1/2 yd
• Large and X-Large: 4.5 m / 5 yd

If you make a shorter knee or midi version, you will need less fabric.

You will need: all-purpose thread, a sewing-machine needle suited to your fabric, chalk or a fabric marker, pins or sewing clips, tape measure, fabric scissors or pinking shears or a rotary cutter and mat, and an iron and ironing board.
